4-H Fair Week

This past week was the 4-H fair. It was ok... not as fun as some years, but definetly still fun.
The heat was just marvelous. :P

I took:
Woodworking I - I made an adirondack chair-- I got a blue/A.
Yeast Breads - I made dinner rolls -- I got a blue/A
Photography II - I took pics of animals at the Phoenix zoo -- I got a blue/A
Scrapbooking - Lindsay helped me --- I got a blue/A AND a superior/purple

Since Linds was the one who helped me on my Scrapbooking, I think she was more excited than me that I got a purple! :) As always, the food there is junk food, but still as tasty as ever! :)
Tuesday night we got rained/stormed out. They told everyone to leave... and everyone left at the same time and it was crazy with all the traffic!

Although I look forward to the fair, I'm so glad it's done.... now I don't have to worry about working on my projects! There is some girls in our county, and between the 3 of them, they took 78 projects!.... and they win everything too. Gets kind of annoying, really.

Well... that's all I have to say. I felt like updating, but I didn't really know what to say. :)

Have a good weekend!

St. Louis

Saturday the Bible Class took a bus up to Saint Louis and went to the City Museum and Union Station. It was a lot of fun and I'm soo glad I went. The trip there and back was fun, but I LOVED the City Museum!! They have a 3 story jungle gym, and bunch of other stuff too, but mostly what I did was go in the caves. It was pitch black in most of them and you could hardley fit thru the tunnels half the time. There were 3 story slides, a skateless skatepark, and too many other things to list. There's a lot inside, but there's also some outside. I'll have to post pictures so you can see. :) All the stuff is made out of 100% recylced material, and it's so artistic lookin'. I would go back in a heartbeat! (Jenna & I decided we should go there with all the Schicks and take a bus down, too. )

We went to Union Station for a while after the museum, which was neat, but not near as fun. We headed back pretty early and stopped at Monicals in Springfield for supper.

Hopefully, I'll post pictures of it one of these days...(I know, I know... I always say that!)

Update on Grandma

Most of you who read my blog, you're family, so you probably know about what's up with Grandma... but just in case someone else reads this, this is what is new:

Wow, a lot has happened since then. She had surgery for her stomach cancer on Monday the 23rd of June to remove part of her stomach and some lymph nodes. They ended up having to take out more of her stomach than was planned. They also had to take out her spleen and quite a bit of tissue from her abdominal cavity. (haha, sorry Heidi) Besides a lot of pain at first, she was doing fairly well. But the next Sunday she got pneumonia and a staff & strep infection in her blood. She was really not doing well for a while, and everything was just kinda up and down for a couple weeks, but has just now started to really pop back. She was in ICU for 3 weeks, and finally got to move out just this past Tuesday. She was able to eat a little yesterday without getting sick like before. Hopefully she will get to go home in a couple weeks. I'm sure she'd still appreciate your prayers.

But things were kind of crazy around here, and are finally calming down a little. I haven't been the "mom" as much lately as I was at first. But a BIG THANK YOU to whoever reads this, and brought us food. It helped us out tremendously! And I didn't have to cook!! :)

me telling you about everything

Well, (Jenny-that's a deeeep subject! haha) we've been back from vacation for a week now, and I'm just now getting around to writing about it.
On Saturday morning we were going to leave at 5, but of course we didn't actually leave until 6. We traveled with Rob & Lily and their family. People trickled in all week long... Jack & Ruth later on Saturday, Ken & Sandy Sunday afternoon, Caleb late Sunday night/early Monday morning, and finally Luke & Heidi late Wednesday night/early Thursday morning.
We didn't have the nicest weather, but it wasn't the worst either. I only got to lay out two days. The last day(Fri), it was really nice out and I got to go water skiing a couple times, and tubing! The water was absolutley freezing, but it was totally worth it. Throughout the week, it would be nice, and then it would end up raining very randomly the whole day. I went fishing once or twice day... usually with Uncle Ken. It was fun... I absolutley love fishing. I ended up being people's "servant." Giving them whatever they needed: tackle box, net, minnows, leeches, taking off their fish.... etc. :)
On Monday we got a phone call telling us that Grandma has stomach cancer. That's not exactly what you want to hear while on vacation. Mom spent a lot of time on the phone and I don't think she could really "relax." Anyways, Grandma is having surgery on Monday(only 2 wks after finding out!)to remove part of her stomach, or possibly the whole thing. So.. guess what!? I get to be the "mom" around here next week, because Mom will probably be gone a lot... just like this week. I didn't cook any meals this week, but I probably will next week. Please keep Grandma in your prayers.

So, Anyways.. the day we left for Wisconsin, was Adam's birthday. We didn't get home until about 7, because we had to take a 2 hr detour from all the flooding. Luke & Heidi stayed for supper which was Jack's frozen pizza. What a birthday! We did sing to him at the resturant the night before, and he got a big piece of cheesecake. On Sunday it was Father's Day and we had Luke & Heidi, Ralph & Linda(Luke's mom & dad), Grandma, & Uncle Ted over for supper. We went and looked at Luke & Heidi's house that they're going to be renting out at our farm.

So, that's all that is new with me! This week I just kept the house in order, Babysat sweet little Wyatt, and went swimming on Thursday at Phil & Jessica's. (for the first time this summer!) Friday I went swimming at a really cool lake with Kendra for her birthday. That was purty fun! OH, and I made a whole bunch of cinnamon rolls for the 4-H bake sale/garage sale... and they didn't really sell. :( Only 2 out of 5 did.

I was going to upload pictures from Wisconsin, but only one would work & the rest said "could not connect with Blogger.com." GRRR. BUT... coming soon: June Birthday's and eventually some more Wisconsin pictures!

the beginning of summer!

So.. not much new has been happening around here. I'm all done with school, except for Algebra 2... which I will probably be doing thru out the summer. It's been great... sleeping in until you feel like getting up, doing stuff w/friends pretty much whenever you want... it's almost like it's SUMMER!! The only thing missing is going to the pool. Which hopefully will warm up soon!

Going Back...
The Sunday night before Memorial Day, Kendra came over. It was great, we never ever get together with just us two! For the supper on Memorial Day, we went to Luke & Heidi's. We went rollerblading after supper, and it rained on us. We got soaked and looked like we had just gotten out of the shower!
That Tuesday night, we had a "Girls Night." We went out to eat(except I didn't go for supper), to Goodwill, and then hung out at Tess's. It 'twas fun.
This past weekend I went to a scrapbooking workshop, babysat for two perfect little boys on Sat, ate AMAZING pizza, got in trouble for not going to ACYF day, went to Jamie's 8th grade graduation open house(for a few min. anyways), and went to a Pfaffmann get-together. That's about it.

This week is V.B.S. at church and I'm helping out with pre-k's crafts. They are so darling! On Saturday we leave for Wisconsin! Woohoo! I'm pretty excited. I made cinnamon rolls the other day to take up there. It took me most of the day to make 3 pans, but I must say they look(and taste) pretty amazing.
So, you probably won't hear from me until after WI unless I decide to post some pictures before then!
