my weekend, ironing & the grandfather's clock

Not a real exciting weekend, but any weekend without school is still really great. :)

Friday night we went to U. John & A. Jeanne's and had supper and spent the evening there with Grandma, because that's where she's staying for the time being.

Saturday morning I did some ironing that DESPERATELY needed to be done. I keep telling Grandma that she better hurry up and get moving around so she can do our ironing! She always did it, and the closet has gotten quite full of clothes this summer. My Mom never irons (I'm not sure why...) so it's all up to me, and I can never keep up with it. I really don't mind it, I just never have the time. :) Anyways, enough about ironing.

Saturday afternoon/evening I babysat for 7 hours. I discovered(and should've known) that giving 4 little boys baths is quite the hassle! Even though I was pretty tired afterward, I had fun with the kids.

Sunday night was Uncle Tom & Aunt Carol's annual Schick wiener roast. It was the usual: hotdogs, smores, hot apple cider, hayrack ride, Lynette's AMAZING pasta salad, and being cold. :)

Monday I had two babysitting jobs. I just love babysitting. LOVE IT! I love the kids. I love getting to know the family. And least of all, there's the money. Seriously, like Lindsay said in her blog... I do it and when they hand me the money... it's like, oh! I get paid!? [I'm being a copycat here :D But it really IS true. ]

Oh, GREAT news! You know our big Grandfather Clock in the foyer that just sits there and doesn't even work? Well, Mom moved it this weekend to clean behind it, and afterwards she wound it. Well, it is now working perfectly! It's the strangest thing... it hasn't worked since we've moved in the house we're in now. I've never seen it work, so it's kinda exciting. :)

One last thing:
Is it just our computer or is my blog messed up? It's all totally pink/orange on my computer. Leave a comment and let me know... cuz I'll fix it if it is.

Love you all, and have a great week!

2 dog too many

It's been dog chaos here lately.

Last Saturday afternoon, Missy was barking viciously at the neighbor right against her invisible fence line (she can't pass it without getting shocked). The neighbor(we'll call him Bob) got really upset at Luke and was like, "I can't even work in my own yard!" and was even cussing at him! Bob came over to our yard and Missy bit him on the leg! Bob was REALLY upset then. Poor Luke! He was the only one outside dealing with all this. I'm not quite sure why Bob came over to our yard when Missy was acting as mean as she was. The vet says that she was scared and was trying to defend herself.... which I think might be true, because Bob hasn't been real nice to Missy lately. Bob then came to our front door and Dad talked to him. He told Dad that Missy's been barking right toward his bedroom window about every night for a long time, and it's driving him and his wife crazy! (don't ask me why he didn't tell us this sooner.) The bite was pretty bad.. he had blood running down his leg and Dad said you could see teeth marks. So, Dad said we need to get rid of Missy and do it right away. That evening we took her over to my Uncle & Aunt's house for the time being. We thought that was that, and all we had to do was find Missy a new permanent home.

On Monday, the Animal Control called and said that we have to take Missy to the vet for an examination, keep her in a garage or pen for 10 days, and take her back to the vet later for another examination. It's the law, and they have to do it for the rabies thing. THANKFULLY, we took Missy to the vet for all her shots just about a month and a half ago. We thought it was so stupid that Bob had called the Animal Control... but he had to go to the doctor for the bite because he has a heart problem and blah blah blah blah..........but the doctors office was going to call the Animal control if Bob wasn't going to.

ANYWHO, we took Missy to the vet, brought her back here, and have been kept her chained up or in the garage. She can't stand it. Poor thing! 6 days down only 4 more to go!!

In other words:

FREE
FEMALE AUSTRALIAN SHEPHERD
Is very devoted to her owners, but can be snippy with strangers, and is not always real fond of them (although she loves some!)
CALL w/any questions!

We have to sell her if we ever want peace with our neighbors. :( I'm very sad......

On a brighter and not as boring note...
I had another good weekend. I enjoy them soo much more during the school year... it's a great break from school!

Friday night Kendra spent the night. We actually did schoolwork together.... we usually don't accomplish much, but we did this time! And of course, I was shortened on sleep.
Saturday day was not so good, but Saturday night I babysat. Until 12:30. I was dead Sunday morning. But I had to keep going, because after church I played the piano for 2 hours at Katelyn Fehr & Mark Stoller's wedding reception. Then I headed on over to ACYF in Tremont. That was pretty good.

I've been meaning to write this week, but it's now another weekend!! YAY!!!!

For Jenny

So writing an entry for my blog has been in the back of my mind for a long time. But school is much more important, so of course I need to get that done first. But here I am with my school not done, and I'm writing a blog.

It seems like I say this all the time, but it's been so long that I'm not sure where to start. Here's a few things that have happened since my last post:

--I can now legally drive by myself. It's not such a big deal to me now, like I thought it was gonna be before I had my license. ..but I still very much enjoy it. :) I have to share a car with Adam, but it seems like I'm usually the one driving the van since he has the car. :P

--Orchestra started! We have a new director... and he's kind of odd, but yet he's really good. I got 4th chair, 1st violin! I was very excited and surprised.

--Grandma came home from the hospital! Us kids have been over there a lot, since someone has to be there most of the time to stay with her... so if Mom's there, we usually go too. Last week my dad was on business, so we all stayed there for the week. She's been having a lot of trouble with nasuea, dry heaves and gagging.. but she's having a procedure done tomorrow that will hopefully cure that.

--We went to Kansas for a short weekend to vist Jill & Larry's family. Kayla was sweet as ever, and Brenna was her usual silly self! On Saturday they had this "Albany Days," which the boys loved. Albany used to be a town, so they have a schoolhouse, train station, museum and post office you can tour. But there's also lots of tractors and they have a tractor pull too. I wasn't real fascinated by it, like the boys... and I was ready to leave a few minutes after we got there. But we were there for a couple hours, and then us girls left (thankfully!).
We really didn't do much the whole weekend... but who needs to do something when you have Jill around to talk to?! It was Trenton's birthday on Saturday, so we made him a lego cake and celebrated that night. We got there Friday afternoon and had to leave Sunday after church. :( When we went back to their house to change, we begged Dad to stay until Monday... but he had to get home so he could leave on business. :( The way home went really long...

That's about all of the highlights. This past weekend was great. Friday night I went Scrapbooking at Kendra's, Saturday I was in the Pumpkin Parade with Aaron Schock, went babysitting, and then went to the Bible Class Luau. That was really fun. (thanks, Aunt Dawn!) Ultimate Frisbee is now my new favorite game/sport.....

Adam started repenting this week. I was very schocked, but I'm very excited for him. :)

Alrighty, well I need to go get ready for Orchestra tonight! Have a great weekend!
