Camping & Canoeing

Daniel's family spent a weekend in the great outdoors in June at the Lughinbuhl's lake and woods. I haven't done that type of thing in a long time. I enjoyed it, but to be honest, I am not a camper or a "great outdoors" woman at all. :) Actually I think what put a damper on the weekend was that I was sick...I had stayed home from work sick on Thursday afternoon and all day Friday....and then bright and early on Saturday we went canoeing down the muddy Mackinaw river. I do love canoeing and I didn't want to miss out on the weekend..so since I didn't have a fever anymore I went anyway!

The group (minus Mom L)

Seth L went with us, Tmothy, Joe and Tuke the dog

Elisabeth went with us in our canoe. Us girls got to take turns sitting in the middle of the boat.
She is such a dear to me!
We went canoeing from 10am to 4pm. The water was perfect... however there could've been more sun to work on my tan. :)  Elisabeth and I may have freaked out at the flying carp in the river... there were a ton of them! One almost jumped right into our canoe! :) After canoeing we spent the evening at Lughinbuhl's pavillion by the lake. We invited Les & Judy down for dinner. They were so kind to let us use their lake, boat, gator, 4-wheeler and everything outdoors.

Joe made us all dinner on Saturday night!
You can call me weird, but I love fishing! (Oh, and that's their beautiful home in the background!)

Sweet little Letty was such a trooper camping... she did better than me! :)
Saturday night was a rough night of sleep... I even took 2 Nyquil, and I could not fall asleep. And if I did, it wasn't for long. I felt like I only got a couple hours of sleep. At 6am Sunday morning I told Daniel to take me up to Les & Judy's house, I wanted to sleep on the couch in the basement for a little while before church. Even though I couldn't sleep because of my coughing, it felt great to be in the air-conditioning and in the house! We showered at Les & Judy's and then headed to church. Robert & Mary met us at church, and then we all went back out to the lake to celebrate June birthday's that afternoon and evening.

It was a great weekend... I really would've enjoyed it if it wasn't for being sick. Hoping the next campout we go on will be better than this one! If there is another! ;) Haha... oh what I do for my husband! ;) I'm kidding...the family time was great, and I knew Daniel was having a blast, so it was very much worth it, even if I joke about it sometimes. :)

Summer Fun

This summer has been a busy one. I am not nearly caught up enough with all of the acitivies and events we have done. It has been wonderful with Daniel not having school! We are on vacation right now... but what a perfect time to catch up. :)It's been a great week of relaxing!
One evening us "younger" cousins hung out. Jenna & Brad, Jamie, Adam, and us all went mini golfing, to McDonalds for food(gotta love the healthiness! :), and back to Jenna & Jamie's to hang out.

The group of us! Oh, and I never announced on my blog that Jenna and Brad are engaged! :) Yeah! Welcome to the family Brad! Good thing we like to hang out with you already! ;)

In other news, we had a baby shower for Lindsay and her little boy... who is already born now! Welcome to the world little Liam!
The hostesses
Linds and the little girls... just like old times. :)

4th of July Weekend

Wow, it was a crazy, packed weekend. But it was oh, so fun!

Tuesday Elisabeth said yes... I then began bouncing off the walls the rest of the week. I was so excited. :) Even though I knew about it for over a month, it was actually happening and I couldn't wait! Couldn't wait to be with them, actually tell people, etc. :)

Wednesday night the Leman family went to Joseph's to watch the Glen Oak fireworks. His back yard backs up to Glen Oak park... it was so nice, there was a fence dividing us and the crowd. :) Sadly Daniel had to work, but I still had a good time. :)
Grandma and the youngest grandchild Asher
Elisabeth & Asher... I'm not sure what I'm going to do at family things now when Daniel's gone. :) I always just hung around Elisabeth, but now she has her own man to hang around...
Letty loved the fireworks, it was so cute! :)
Gabe sat on my lap the whole time. His comments were hilarious.

Thursday, 4th of July morning we went to Daniel's parents to hang out for a bit. Daniel wanted to work on his new deer fence.... did I say deer? Yes, for those who don't know, Daniel has a pet deer. But doesn't he shoot deer? Yes, that's true, but he loves his pet deer. I must admit, getting the antlers every year and seeing how much bigger they get is kind of neat. It's basically one of his (many) hobbies. :)

Meet Jake... he loves Daniel, he will come up to him and lick him. He really is quite gorgeous. I just cringe when I see what we spend on him. :)

For lunch and the rest of the day we went to my Uncle Jack & Aunt Ruth's with the Pfaff family. Daniel didn't have to work, which I was so thankful for...he's missed a lot of family things.
It was super neat because the Fehr's gave my Uncle Jack a refurbished Model A tractor as a surprise. It was one of his dream "toys," like they had when he was growing up! They refurbished it themselves, and Uncle Jack's family had no idea. Check out their faces when they drove it down the lane.

Uncle Jack wasn't the only one who enjoyed the tractor, but everyone else too, including my dad :) Such a cute picture of him I think!

The Pfaff siblings: Uncle Jack, Uncle Robert, Aunt Sandy, & Dad

They brought a hay rack with the tractor... so we got a really long hay rack ride. I'm not sure if Heidi's kids enjoyed it very much. :) I know Bridget was ready to get off!
Doesn't Bridget look thrilled?
I just love the 4th. It's a day off work, usually spent with family, summer dresses, flipflops, popsicles, fireworks. So thankful it was so beautiful outside this year!
Isn't he so cute? :) We weren't very patriotic this year like Heidi & Luke's family were...

What a cute family picture!
We left Uncle Jack's right after supper and went to Peoria fireworks with the Fritz's and some of my Pfaff cousins. I was a little stressed out because I was the only one who'd ever been to them, and was kind of in charge of finding a place. But! we found a good parking spot and good place to sit! Thank goodness!  The fireworks were really good this year... especially the grand finale!

We're really bad at taking good pictures. :)
Friday I was supposed to work, but I took off because I had Michelle's personal shower that night. Plus I wanted a 4 day weekend. :) I ran around all day like a crazy lady, but we got everything done, thanks to my helpful husband and Kendra who came and helped me too!

                                                                The whole group

The Core-4 back together again. :) It totally feels like normal to hang out with them again, even though it's been years since we were all single and having fun. :)

Troy, Ellie, & Cyrus spent the night Friday & Saturday night. It was a lot of fun. :) Saturday morning Ellie and I had a dress fitting for Michelle's bridesmaids dresses. We took Cyrus with us while the guys worked on Daniel's new deer fence. It is now super tall... no way that deer is getting out of there!

The boys worked for quite a few hours while we went home, made some food and put Cyrus down for a nap. We came back, picked the guys up and went swimming at Daniel's aunts pool. It was very refreshing for the men. Cyrus liked it too. :)

And sadly, this is the only picture I took of Cyrus the whole weekend. If only you could see his BIG blue eyes and super long eyelashes in this picture!

Saturday night we just hung out which was great. We grilled hamburgers, put Cyrus to bed super early, and played The Farming Game for a really long time. I am really antsy when I play that game... probably because I always do so horrible.

Sunday was the big announcement for Evan & Elisabeth... and I finally got to meet Evan. Daniel is already good friends with Evan, so we are double excited. They went to school together growing up, and really knew each other well in high school.

Troy & Ellie left right after church on Sunday. Gotta get the picture in front of church and in the church clothes. :)

Sunday night was the engagement supper for the newly engaged couple. Sadly, Daniel had to work again. :/ We went and hung out right after church for a bit, so he had a little time at his parents.

Sunday night I was shot.... on Monday, it felt great to just sit at my desk and not have to talk or socialize....which is totally unlike me. :)

Exciting News!

It's been a crazy busy weekend, so I must get to bed. HOWEVER, I have to post the biggest most exciting thing that happened this weekend!
Elisabeth got engaged to Evan Z. I won't say much, except I believe they have truly sought out God's will, and they will be blessed.
Oh, and I can't wait to hang out with another young couple. :)

Mother's Day

Yes, I know.. Mother's Day was almost 2 months ago. But anyway, on Mother's Day we went to church with my family. Every time we go back to W-ton, everyone makes comments how we never come to visit.... We are almost always there once a month. Sometimes more. That's not too bad if I may say so myself. :)

That the evening we had my family for dinner. We made fajitas... and if I may say so myself, that meal was one of the best I've ever made! It probably helps that mexican is my favorite kind of food.... and Daniel loves it too. :) Anyway, I had never had my family over since we'd been married so it was long over due!
This is our back yard. We had darling little calves born this spring. Adam was a good uncle and took the kiddos out to see them.

Mom with her kids and grandkids. Such a sweet picture, if only the little ones were looking!

We are so very blessed by our moms! They both do so much for us and they are so giving!

Elisabeth Graduates!

Obviously I am still trying to play catch up on my blog. This happened almost 2 months ago! Mother's Day weekend, Elisabeth had her high school graduation open house. I can't believe she's only graduating from high school... she's so much more mature than that. :) I am so thankful to have her as a sister-in-law. She is great to have in the family, but she really is one of my best friends.
I was the photographer for the evening so I have quite a few photos.

Parents of the graduate-- they should be proud of her. :)

And off to nursing school she goes.... 4th one in the Leman family!
